Make A Natural Bug Spray For Tomato Plants

Keep bugs off your tomato plants with a natural spray.


A vine-ripened tomatoes from your garden is a refreshing treat, but when bugs overtake your plants, they can affect your harvest. Commercial pesticides can be costly, and often contain harsh ingredients that you may not want to spray onto something you'll later be eating. You can make your own natural bug spray for your tomato plants for a fraction of the cost of commercial products. And best of all, you'll be doing your part to protect the environment. Instructions


Chili Pepper Spray


1. Put five chili peppers into a blender or food processor and puree.


2. Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of warm water. Mix in the pureed chili peppers.


3. Let the mixture set for 24 hours. Strain it through a piece of cheesecloth to remove any large chunks. Use this mixture undiluted and store the unused portion in an air-tight container.


Garlic and Soap Spray


4. Pour 3 oz. of finely-minced garlic into a large bowl. Add 2 tsp. of mineral oil and stir it up well. Let the mixture sit for 24 hours.


5. Add 2 cups of water to the mixture. Stir in 1/4 oz. of biodegradable liquid soap.


6. Strain the mixture through a piece of cheesecloth to remove the chunks of garlic. Use 1 to 2 tbsp. of the mixture for every two cups of water. Store unused spray in an air-tight container.
