Ticks of any kind can pose serious health threats to their hosts. They carry diseases that can infect animals and humans. Because the tick burrows its head into the flesh of its host, removal is challenging. If you pull the body out, the head may remain inside the skin, which can cause infection. Encourage the tick to back out of the flesh on its own with the help of some common household items, including crazy glue (trade name Instant Krazy Glue).
Instructions
1. Rub a small amount of petroleum jelly on the skin around where the tick is burrowed. This will protect your skin from coming into contact with the glue.
2. Apply a generous amount of the glue to a cotton ball, and press the cotton ball against the tick for 20 seconds. Because ticks breathe through their backside, inhibiting their breathing function will usually cause them to back out of the flesh on their own, thus removing the head from your skin.
3. Pull the cotton ball away from the skin. The tick should be clinging to the cotton.
4. Cleanse the skin with an antibacterial wipe.
5. Release the tick into the wild or destroy it by burning it with a cigarette lighter.
