Mosquitoes are annoying pests. Mosquito also can infect animals and humans with diseases such as West Nile virus through their bites. There are several ways you can control your indoor mosquito population. First, prevent mosquitoes from coming into your house. Then, try an all-natural approach to pest control or use pesticides. Instructions
1. Inspect your window screens. If any are broken or missing, replace them.
2. Examine your exterior doors and ensure that they are tightly sealed. If you can see sunlight under the door, install a door sweep to prevent mosquitoes from entering.
3. Introduce Thai lemon grass plants into your home. These plants naturally repel mosquitoes. According to Earth Easy, Thai lemon grass contains citronella, a natural oil, and it may be even more effective than the citronella plant. Place these plants strategically by your doors, as well as outside near points of entry.
4. Plant marigolds outside underneath your windows and by your doors. Marigolds also repel mosquitoes. The insects are repulsed by the scent of the plants.
5. Apply a pesticide treatment to the inside of your home if you have a serious infestation of mosquitoes. There are several brands of foggers and sprays that kill mosquitoes and other flying insects. Only use a product indoors if it is specifically labeled for indoor use. Each brand will have different directions for you to follow. Read all the instructions and safety precautions carefully. Wear gloves and goggles before applying the product.
