Bed Bug Repellent Spray

Bed bugs are a parasitic insect that live off the blood of a human or animal host. Adult bed bugs are brown, oval-shaped and flat. Eggs and immature bed bugs are translucent and difficult to detect by eye. Does this Spark an idea?

Bug Spray

Bed bugs do not respond to ordinary, commercial bug sprays. The insects will die of old age before bug repellent kills them.

Spraying Your Skin

Bug spray that you put on your skin does not repel the resilient bloodsuckers. Products containing DEET, citronella oil or geraniol are not designed to kill insects, but rather, to interfere with their ability to find a host. These sprays will also only remain active on your skin for about four hours. Bed bugs are most active from three a.m. to five a.m., several hours after you would have probably applied bug spray.

Professional Sprays

Pesticide resistance is a huge concern and a primary factor in bed bug infestation. Using a spray containing pyrethroid insecticides or insect growth regulators (IGRs) like hydroprene can help kill the insects, or at least disrupt their reproductive cycle.
