Bayer Advanced All In One Rose & Flower Care Directions

Apply fertilizer, insecticide and fungicide to roses in one step.

Bayer Advanced All-in-One Rose and Flower Care combines a fertilizer, an insecticide and disease control. Bayer recommends it for roses, azaleas, rhododendrons, irises, hibiscus and similar ornamental shrubs and flowers. The product's fungicide -- tebuconazole -- controls black spot, rust, powdery mildew and southern blight, while its insecticide -- imidacloprid -- kills aphids, Japanese beetles, leaf beetles, thrips and other insects. The fertilizer is 9-14-9, meaning it's higher in phosphorus to encourage blooms and strong roots. It's poisonous to aquatic invertebrates, so avoid applying it or disposing of the product where it will contaminate water. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Measure 4 tbsp. of Bayer Advanced All-in-One Rose and Flower Care for each rose you want to treat, when the plants begin to grow in the spring. Put the amount you measured into a watering can. If you're treating a flower garden, measure 4 tbsp. for every 12 square feet. If you're treating a shrub other than a rose, measure 2 tbsp. for each foot of the shrub's height.

2. Add 1 quart of water to the watering can for each rose or for each foot of a shrub's height. If you're treating a flower garden, add 2 gallons of water for every 12 square feet.

3. Shake or stir the watering can to mix the product with the water.

4. Water the base of the rose or shrub. Avoid getting the product on the leaves. If you're watering a flower bed, you can sprinkle it over the flowers if necessary, since the extra dilution makes the product safer for the leaves.

5. Fill the watering can with plain water and water the plants again to rinse out the watering can and to make sure you've applied all the product.

6. Repeat the treatment again in six weeks and 12 weeks for a total of three treatments a year. If you have sandy soil and problems with plant diseases, apply the product every four to five weeks, for a total of four applications a year.
