Bounce Sheets As A Mosquito Repellent

Bounce sheets aren't a good mosquito repellent.

Mosquitoes are attracted to water and to certain scents. When a mosquito lands on your body, it immediately starts feeding off your blood. A common urban legend is that Bounce sheets supposedly repel mosquitoes. Does this Spark an idea?

Uses

To use the Bounce sheets as a mosquito repellent, remove the sheets from the box and slide through your belt loops or place in your pants pockets. Alternatively, rub the Bounce sheets on your skin, focused on exposed areas.

Considerations

The belief is that the Bounce sheets change the scent surrounding your body and mosquitoes do not like the smell. However, according to Snopes.com and CBS News Canada, this is not an effective mosquito repellent.

Expert Insight

Health Canada reported to CBS News Canada that natural or organic mosquito repellents don't work. This includes Bounce dryer sheets, other fabric softeners, vanilla and vitamin B. Chemical repellents are a better method to keep mosquitoes away.
