What Is That Electronic Bug Repellent

Electronic bug repellents come in a wide range of sizes, for both adults and children. The devices are designed to reduce your chances of getting bit or stung by different insects and without the use of messy sprays or powders. Does this Spark an idea?

Basics

An electronic bug repellent is a small electrical device that runs on batteries. Some devices are designed to be worn on the body, while others are stand-alone models. The stand-alone models supposedly stop insects from multiple feet away.

Manufacturers' Claims

The companies that make electronic insect repellents claim that the devices emit a low-level frequency that immediately stops insects from biting and stinging. The devices often have multiple frequencies that let you adjust the waves, to find the right fit for your insect problem.

Warnings

Currently there is no evidence or research to support the claim that electronic insect repellents work as the manufacturers intend. If you wish to stop insects from biting, use a chemical spray as directed.
