Coleman Mosquito Repellent

Mosquitoes can put a crimp on enjoyable summer evenings.

Mosquitoes can take the fun out of a camping trip or an enjoyable summer evening. In addition to being annoying, they can carry diseases. Coleman manufactures mosquito repellents that can keep the pests at bay in a variety of situations. Does this Spark an idea?

DEET Mosquito Repellent

Coleman produces a variety of DEET (N,N-diethyl toluamide) mosquito repellents with DEET concentrations ranging from 15 percent, which will keep mosquitoes in check for two to four hours, to 100 percent, which provide protection for eight to ten hours. Higher concentrations should be used only if you will be outdoors for at least eight hours, or when the population of mosquitoes is extremely high.

DEET-Free Repellent

SkinSmart, Coleman's DEET-free mosquito repellent, contains IR3535, an EPA-registered, non-toxic repellent. According the DEET site, SkinSmart repellent is safe for children as young as one year old, and will provide protection for up to eight hours.

Area and Clothing Repellents

Coleman's's area repellents include a citronella lantern that resembles a Coleman lantern, and a fogger that is sprayed around the perimeter of a patio, backyard or campsite. Coleman Gear and Clothing Insect Treatment spray will repel mosquitoes, ticks and other biting insects from clothing and gear for up to two weeks.
