Directions To Putting Up A Mosquito Bed Net

Keep biting bugs away from your bed with mosquito netting.

A soft breeze blowing through your window may bring relief from the heat, but it's also an invitation to mosquitoes. The tiny pests are drawn to warm-blooded hosts, piercing skin and feeding as you snooze. If you're tired of waking up covered in mosquito bites but don't want to close the window, install a mosquito net over your bed. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Drive a sturdy eye hook through the ceiling over the middle of the bed. Connect the top loop of a double-ended snap to the eye hook's eye.

2. Feed mosquito netting through a 3-inch metal ring, and center the ring in the middle of the fabric. Hang the ring from the bottom end of the double-ended snap. Shake the fabric loose to drape it around the bed. Tie a length of ribbon around the fabric just under the ring to prevent it from shifting during use.

3. Unsnap the ring, and lay the mosquito net on the floor. Arrange the fabric so the two free edges of fabric that form the left and right seams of the net lay side by side.

4. Glue a 4-inch piece of ribbon on each side of the seam, about 3 inches down from the bottom of the ring. Add another pair of ribbons 3 inches down the material from the first ribbon. Add another pair of ribbons every 3 inches along both the left and right seams to the end of the netting. These ribbons will allow you to tie the netting closed around the bed once the netting is in place.

5. Hang the netting from a tall branch outside. Spray all of the netting with a mosquito-killing aerosol spray, and let the netting dry.

6. Hang the finished netting from the snap over the bed, and arrange the netting to cover each corner of the bed. Tie the pairs of ribbons firmly to cover the bed, and lift one side of the net to climb into bed.
