Make Perfume Without Alcohol For A Science Project

Personalize your scents with homemade perfumes.

High-end and brand-name perfumes tend to be expensive and contain alcohol, which can dry out your skin. You can make your own perfume at home with just a few ingredients and without the alcohol. This process is perfect for a school science project when working with chemicals. The technique is quick, gives you a personalized, long-lasting scent and hopefully an A+.

Instructions

1. Mix 1/4 cup of almond, coconut or jojoba oil with six drops of your favorite scented oil together. The main oil in the mix will replace the alcohol that is normally the main ingredient in perfumes.

2. Pour the mix into a small, dark glass bottle and put the cap on. Shake the bottle well to mix the oils together and set it in a cool, dark place for up to one week. The longer you leave it, the more scent there will be. Shake the mix once a day so the oil does not settle.

3. Drop in two tablespoons of distilled water after one week, replace the cap and shake the bottle again. Check the scent to see if it is strong enough. If not, add a one or two more drops of scented oil to the mix and shake again. If it is too strong, add another 2 tablespoons of distilled water.
