Bed bugs are flat, oval, rusty-red tiny bugs that are approximately 3/16 inch long and thrive in mattresses, clothing and curtains. They prefer to come out of their hiding places at night. You know that you have a bed bug problem when you find tiny, itchy red dots on your body that have a light red ring around them. These are bed bug bites as bed bugs thrive on the blood of others. You may also notice tiny red dots of blood on your sheets as a result of these bites. Bed bugs are easy to get rid of using a homemade remedy of soap and water. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Remove bedding, curtains and clothing infected with bedbugs.

2. Place items in the wash. Use hot water and liquid detergent soap. The hot water and soap will kill the bugs on contact.

3. Place furniture and mattresses infected with bedbugs outside if you live in a cold climate and the temperature is colder than 25 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the items in the cold for several hours. The cold temperature also kills bedbugs. If you do not live in a cold climate, apply hot water and liquid detergent soap to the mattress and furniture to kill the bugs.
