Diy Mosquito Tent

Mosquito tents can be seen on many beds in regions that are hot and humid. Mosquitoes can be annoying insects, biting you and getting into your home. A mosquito tent can prevent mosquitoes from getting inside and from getting you. Creating a mosquito tent can seem like a daunting task, but it can be done. With the right supplies, you can make a mosquito tent and your home or room can be mosquito-free.

Instructions

1. Measure your mattress' length and width. Add 3 or 4 inches to the length of the mattress. These measurements will be used to get the most accurate amount of white cotton sheeting and mosquito netting. Record these measurements for later use.

2. Trim the selvages off of the white cotton sheeting. The selvages are the edges of the sheeting. The stripes of the selvages can be used to create loops on the mosquito tent.

3. Make the selvages into loops and attach the loops along the edges of the white cotton sheeting. The white cotton sheeting will be used for the top of the mosquito tent. Place the seams of the cotton sheeting in the middle. The loops will be used to hang the tent. Attach enough loops that are 2 inches apart so the sheeting doesn't sag in the middle. You can use the white thread to attach the loops.

4. Cut from any excess white cotton sheeting four 6-inch wide strips to be used as part of the tent. The strips should be long enough to fit around the cotton sheeting. Sew the strips together and attach the long piece to the bottom edge of the sheeting. The piece should be hanging down, appearing as a box. Leave the ends of the strip open. As you sew the strip on the sheeting, you will be reinforcing the loops at the same time.

5. Cut the excess pieces that are hanging and sew the seams together. The white cotton should now look like a canopy.

6. Sew a long, continuous piece of mosquito tulle to the bottom edge of the white cotton sheeting canopy. Mosquito netting tulle comes in an 8-feet wide roll. Measure the canopy before cutting and attaching the netting tulle. Turn the sheeting 1/4-inch under and sew the tulle to it. The mosquito netting tulle should be sewn around the canopy.

7. Cut off the remaining netting tulle that comes around the canopy and sew the seam to close. Make sure that there is enough tulle on the canopy for you to easily enter and exit.

8. Hem a remaining strip of netting tulle and attach it to the bottom edge of the canopy. Once you sew the strip around the netting tulle, cut the extra tulle off and sew the seam together. Your mosquito tent is now complete. You can use pins to hang it up.
