Diy Propane Mosquito Trap

A propane mosquito trap uses the same principles that attract mosquitos to a cow.

A propane mosquito trap combines a mosquito magnet with a vacuuming system to lure and capture mosquitos. The mosquito trap mechanism mimics the features of a cow that attract mosquitos. A plant-based chemical signature emitted by cows, carbon dioxide, warmth and moisture draws the mosquitos.

By using a propane mosquito trap for several weeks, you can significantly reduce the population of female mosquitos in your yard, which will eventually suppress the overall mosquito population. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Attach a ceramic grid to a propane tank. Do not ignite the propane. The propane reacts with the ceramic grid to create carbon dioxide.

2. Add a cartridge containing octenol. This is a mosquito-attracting chemical that simulates plant chemicals. You can purchase octenol at hardware stores. In conjunction with the carbon dioxide from the propane, this trap is a powerful mosquito lure.

3. Attach a vacuum to the trap. Once the mosquitos venture in, they cannot escape because of the powerful suction of the vacuum.
