Naturally Get Rid Of Flies Outdoors

Keeping garbage in tightly sealed bins can control flies outside.

Houseflies and not only a nuisance, they are a health hazard. Flies love to crawl over foul things --- the nastier the better --- and can pass germs to people and pets. If a fly has walked in excrement, it may transmit diseases including infectious hepatitis, dysentery, eye infections, polio, typhoid and cholera. Flies also spread the eggs of parasitic worms. Flies quickly become immune to any new pesticide used to kill them. Insecticides are also dangerous to people, pets, wild animals and the environment. But there are natural ways to control flies outside without toxic chemicals. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Clean up garbage. Eliminate adult flies by targeting areas where larvae (also called maggots) grow. Keep all garbage in tightly sealed metal or heavy-plastic bins.

2. Place garbage cans as far away from the house and outdoor play and entertainment areas as possible.

3. Remove organic waste from the yard, vegetable gardens and fruit orchards at least once a week. Flies breed in rotting fruits, vegetables and dog feces.

4. Hang sticky fly ribbons in areas where flies are present.

5. Buy inverted-cone fly traps for heavily infested areas. Hang the traps far from occupied areas as they contain fly attractants that can be quite foul smelling.
