Homemade Vegetable Garden Bug Killer

Kill insects that live in your vegetable garden to prevent extensive damage to your plants.


Save money and protect your vegetable garden by making homemade bug killer with items that you have in your pantry. Killing the insects with natural ingredients also prevents adding harmful chemical pesticides to the vegetables you grow. Natural insecticides include ingredients like soap, oil and herbs that work to control garden pests naturally. Oil smothers insects, the soap allows the solution to stick to the plants, while peppers make the vegetable plants undesirable to the insects. Does this Spark an idea?


Instructions


Oil Spray


1. Combine 1 cup of vegetable oil and 1 tbsp. of liquid dish soap in a spray bottle.


2. Add 2 cups of warm water to the spray bottle.


3. Shake the bottle to mix the ingredients.


4. Spray the solution onto the insects invading the vegetable plants. Continue to spray the solution weekly to kill the insects as needed.


Pepper Spray


5. Mine three habanero peppers. Place them in a sauce pot on the stove top.


6. Add 1 qt. of water to the sauce pot. Bring the solution to a boil.


7. Remove the saucepot from the stove top once the peppers boil for 1 minute.


8. Allow the peppers to steep for 24 hours in the water. Remove the peppers from the water with a slotted spoon.


9. Add 2 tsp. of liquid dish soap to the water. Pour the solution into the spray bottle. Spray the insects on the vegetable plants.
