Best Cure For Mosquito Bites

Finding relief from pesky mosquito bites is a welcomed treat when you suffer from nonstop itching. There are several items in your own home as well as over-the-counter medications that you can turn to for help. Home remedies work well for most people, but keep in mind that all people react differently to mosquito bites and possible cures.

Instructions

1. Apply aloe vera. Among other things, this old-fashioned remedy also works to cure mosquito bites. Simply rub a small amount of aloe vera on the bite and around the infected area. The itching should subside after a few minutes.

2. Apply hydrocortisone cream. Apply a small drop of hydrocortisone cream onto the center of a round Band-aid. Position the Band-aid directly over the bite. This should help the swelling subside and stop the scratching. You can also apply the cream directly to the bite.

3. Use a bar of soap. Dampen the bar of soap (do not lather) and rub it over the bite. The lye in the soap brings relief to the mosquito bite and leaves you smelling good too.

4. Apply calamine lotion. Calamine lotion is used for effectively relieving the chicken pox and poison oak or ivy rashes, and it is an effective cure for mosquito bites as well. Apply the lotion to the bite and on the reddened area that surrounds it. The calamine lotion dries up the infection, which relieves the itch.

5. Use a hot towel. Boil water, then soak a towel in it. Carefully apply the hot towel over your mosquito bite. Even though this is a temporary solution to a lingering problem, the sensation of heat will be sent to your brain. Since your brain now is concerned with the extreme heat felt at the same location as the bite, it will forget about itching and concentrate on cooling the area.
