Keep A Hot Tub Clean

A hot tub is a great addition to any home. What better way to relax after a hard day at work than a soak in a nice hot tub with jets massaging away the aches and pains of the day? Keeping a hot tub clean in important because you don't want the hassle and waste of refilling the water too often. There are a few important things you can do to keep your hot tub clean. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Always keep a cover on your hot tub. Leaves, insects, pollen, and other miscellaneous airborne debris can all land in your hot tub and make it dirty pretty quickly. Whenever you are not using your hot tub, keep a hot tub cover especially made for your spa on the hot tub. Hot tub covers also conserve energy, keeping the water warmer.

2. Take a shower before you soak. Body oils, detergents, soaps, and lotions can all contribute to dirty hot tub water. A quick shower off before you get in the hot tub can keep your hot tub water cleaner longer.

3. Keep your filter clean. A clean filter is more efficient at removing dirt and debris from your hot tub water. Check the filter frequently and replace when necessary.

4. Vacuum out the grit and bits from the bottom of the hot tub on a regular basis. There are some things that won't get cycled through the filter and that includes small bits of sand and rocks that will accumulate on the bottom of your hot tub. A simple hand held spa vacuum can easily suck up the bits from the bottom of the hot tub and keep it looking great from top to bottom.

5. Follow a regular hot tub maintenance schedule with some type of hot tub chemical routine. Some people like to use chlorine and others prefer natural products or Baquicil. Whatever method you choose, be sure to maintain a regular schedule for checking the water chemistry and adding chemicals or products whenever necessary. If you keep on top of your hot tub and follow all the rules, your hot tub water can last for two months or more!
