Clean A Stinky Drain

Stinky drains are often caked with rotting food.

Old food and dirt can make your drain smell bad. This smell can eventually intensify so that your entire kitchen or bathroom will smell bad. Remedy this by cleaning out your drain and deodorizing it. Use natural drain cleaning products and avoid using harsh chemicals that will not only contaminate your home's air environment but can permanently damage your pipes. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda down the drain. Baking soda is a natural odor absorber that will remove bad smells from your drain.

2. Pour 1/2 gallon of distilled white vinegar down the drain slowly. The acidic vinegar will react with the alkaline baking soda to bubble and clean the drain. This process will remove the bad odor.

3. Turn on the faucet and run it for several minutes to push the vinegar and baking soda through the pipes.

4. Pour several drops of essential oils down the drain. Choose any scent that you wish. Essential oils are natural fragrances.

5. Put an orange peel down the drain if you are cleaning a drain with a garbage disposal.

6. Run the water and turn on the garbage disposal until the orange peel runs through it. The orange oils will naturally scent the disposal blades.
